August 2010: Top 5 Books

I can’t believe how quickly August came and went. It wasn’t the most productive reading month for me, in part because I did a lot of re-reading. It’s hard for me to re-read when my TBR pile is already overwhelmingly large, but I enjoy going back to early books in a series before reading the next installment. This month, that meant re-reading Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver before Linger and Suzanne Collin’s Hunger Games books before the release of Mockingjay. I didn’t review Linger or Mockingjay because, quite honestly, they don’t need any extra coverage. I didn’t feel like I could say anything that hadn’t already been said a million times. Both books are amazing; if you aren’t familiar with them…just go read them!

With re-reads included, I’m up to 135 books this year. Given that I read so little this month, though, I can’t say my top 5 have been culled from a large sample. Nonetheless, they are great books that I would highly recommend.
