Booking Through Thursday: Bedside

What books do you have next to your bed right now? How about other places in the house? What are you reading?

I tend to only keep one book by my bed at a time. Right now, the book I’m reading (which is next to my bed) is Every Little Thing in the World by Nina de Gramont. I’m only a few chapters in, but enjoying it so far. I also try to keep a small journal to write in, and some post-its to flag quotes as I read, if I’m feeling sufficiently motivated. Sometimes I will keep the last book I read by my bed for a little while until I get a chance to review it, but I’ve been staying pretty on top of things lately.

Around my house is another story! There are tons and tons of bookshelves where I have books double and triple layered because there isn’t enough room for everything to fit. I also have some books tucked away in closets, and others in boxes or on shelves out in the garage. It’s not quite at the level of hoarding, but if I move again soon, I’m going to have to trim down the collection. What can I say? I love being surrounded by books! I also like having a lot of options to choose from at any given time. Despite the overflow, I keep one shelf fairly reserved for library books, which I also usually have an abundance of at any given time.

  • I try to cull my books every time we move, too. Even after doing that the movers inevitably stand in amazement when they see how many book boxes they’ve ended up packing. I’m with you though, it’s a joy to be surrounded by books!

  • I don’t read in bed! Hence no books on my bedside!

  • I love reading in bed. Right now I just have my Nook next to me, but I have books stacked everywhere.
