Dear Twentysomething: Kelly from KellyVision
Graduating college with a major in English and a double minor in sociology and gender studies was not the best idea. Sure, you can talk about soooo many things, but you’re essentially useless in the real world. So of course you now work in TV news. Nine years later, you still work most major holidays, but you work with amazing people and that helps.
The most important thing I have to tell you is not to worry about turning 30. I know you had that freakout at 29, but it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be. And while I can’t tell you about most of your thirties (we won’t be 32 until April), I can tell you that so far, it’s been pretty awesome. We have great friends and family, and that’s more than most people can say.
I don’t want to tell you too much, but take the job that will put you in Baltimore. You like it there a lot more than you thought you would (and it’s where you have the week-and-a-half-long 30th birthday party).
And no spoilers, but don’t date most of the people you want to date. You have a habit of settling. Stop doing that! You’re worth more than most of those women.
Also and finally, enjoy the ride. It’s been a great one.
Kelly blogs at KellyVision. When she’s not reading or blogging, she enjoys playing with her adorable dog and watching American Horror Story. (Note: I also enjoy watching AHS, but Kelly is way less wimpy about it than I am.)
