  • I recently had an issue with this topic in a book I was reading. The two main characters had sex, but it was unprotected. Yes, I get that teens have unprotected sex all the time – however, I felt like in this situation they made it sound like just because she was on the Pill, then they were safe. Um no, WRONG! As an adult, I know that’s not true. However, to a teen that is reading this & may not be well educated or experienced, then they may assume this is true. I think it’s important to promote safe sex & being smart, even in books with fictional characters!

    • That’s a really interesting situation that I haven’t encountered yet. I don’t know that I want sex scenes to come with a PSA, but I would definitely be frustrated by misinformation that is never corrected. I’m going to have to think about this one some more, though.
