Happy Blogoversary to Me!

Today is Reclusive Bibliophile’s 1 year blogoversary. I’m not doing anything over the top exciting to celebrate because my life has been crazy lately. The most celebratory thing I can do right now is not give myself lots of extra projects.

However, I wanted to take a few minutes today for a sort of extended #FF to say thank you to all the amazing bloggers and authors I have had the opportunity to meet and work with in the last year. I’m often in disbelief at how ginormous my TBR pile has grown in the last year, but it is even more amazing to me how much my life has been changed by this incredible community. (For example, I never spent the majority of my day on Twitter before….) Seriously, though, I am so grateful to those bloggers/authors who have been friendly and supportive in the past year. I highly doubt I would still be doing this without them.

I’m sure that I am going to forget some people, but this isn’t an award acceptance speech, so I hope they’ll forgive me. Huge thanks to the following folks for making this an amazing year (and if you aren’t familiar with them, go get to know them, because they will make your life better):

  • All of the If You Like contributors: This is my favorite part of blogging, and I appreciate all the hard work you do to make it happen.
  • Isaiah Vianese of From Yes: Thanks for talking books long before there ever was a blog, being willing to take a chance on reading some YA and becoming a guest reviewer, flying out to LA to go to the Book Festival last year, and a million other things that go beyond the scope of this post.
  • Justin Goodman: Thanks for designing this page and generally helping with the technical side of this operation; this blog wouldn’t have a home without you.
  • Jamie of The Perpetual Page-Turner: Thanks for always being willing to listen and for that awesome day that involved lots of delicious Thai food, ice cream, books, and the vlog that never actually became a vlog.
  • Ginger of G Reads: Thanks also for being a listening ear, having an awesome dog and adorable nephew, making amazing graphics, and reforming my opinion of Texans (or at least some of them).
  • Capillya of That Cover Girl: Thanks for lots of Skype chats, cover love, TV commentary, and that b-day video, which remains one of the nicest things anybody has ever done for me.
  • April of Good Books and Good Wine: Thanks for LOLcats, being the first blogger I got to meet up with in person, book sharing, and your always enjoyable ability to tell it like it is.
  • Kari of A Good Addiction: Thanks for running an awesome tour site, sharing pics of your adorable dog, and talking about your crazy boys (you know, the ones in your head).
  • Tara of Fiction Folio and Anna of Anna Reads: You Chicago folks come in a pair now. Thanks for lots of very entertaining vlogs, hilarious typos, stick figures, backstage Oprah, travel advice, and lots and lots of time on Twitter/Skype.
  • Jen of Makeshift Bookmark: Thanks for being one of the first bloggers I got to know on Twitter, entertaining nursing/customer service commentary, cute fluffy kitties, a shared love of soy chai lattes and sweatpants, and hilarious reviews that have introduced me to some wonderful books.
  • Lindsi of Books, Sweets, and Other Treats: Thanks for making me want to binge on sweets on a regular basis, chats that span Twitter/Skype/Text/Phone (sometimes all at once), trip planning and unplanning and replanning, and joining Ginger in reforming my feelings about Texans.
  • Amber of The Literary Wife: Thanks for sharing your love of food and books and for always being up to talk about pretty much anything from education to religion to budgeting to figuring out what the heck we’re going to do with the rest of our lives.
  • Catherine Ryan Hyde: Thanks for being one of the most kind and generous authors I have met in this past year, for your daily gratitude posts that remind me there is something to be thankful for every day, and for lots of dog talk.
  • Miranda Kenneally: Thanks for making me laugh (along with Tiffany) on a regular basis, introducing me to Rice Krispies Treats and wine (delicious), and lots of wonderful book talk. I can’t wait to hold your own books in my hands!
  • Thanks to all the other bloggers who help me figure out what to read, the Twitter folk who keep me so entertained that it is sometimes hard to tear myself away to go read, and all the authors who keep me drowning in a sea of books.

Looking forward to another year of reading, blogging, and meeting many more great people!

  • Happy Blogoversary!!!! <3

I feel guilty that I haven't helped out much with the 'If You Like' posts lately… but I'm so happy to have contributed at all, and I love reading them!

  • Oh Mel! this post definitely made me a little teary-eyed. I have really loved getting to know you better over the last few months. It’s amazing that I find myself talking to you & other bloggers more on a daily basis than I do with my friends IRL! But you know what? I freaking love it. You are one of a kind & I appreciate your kind words <3 Here's to many, many more years of blogging! I can't wait to read what you have to say πŸ™‚

    • I think I talk to bloggers more than I talk to most of my other friends and family members. If they don’t like that, they can get Twitter accounts πŸ˜‰
