Teaser Tuesday: Closed for the Season

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Should be Reading

The rules are:
* Grab your current read.
* Let the book fall to a random page.
* Share two “teaser” sentences from that page.
* Share the title of the book that you’re getting your teaser from so that people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given.
* Please avoid spoilers!

This week’s teaser comes from Mary Downing Hahn’s Closed for the Season, which was an Edgar Award winner this year. I’m just starting this book, but I’m excited to read it. Mary Downing Hahn was one of my favorite authors as a kid. I’ve read Time for Andrew more times than I can count, and I hope this will be just as good.

Page 122:

“A woman murdered in your house,” he went on, still smiling. “Her killer never caught. It sounds like a crime for the Hardy Boys to solve.”

The sarcasm in his voice was impossible to miss. Forcing myself to look him in the eye, I said, “I grew out of the Hardy Boys a long time ago.”

  • Nice teaser. I like rereading childhood favorites as an adult. Gives you a new perspective on your young self.

    My teaser is up too, with blood.

  • Don’t think I’ve heard of this author before now, but this sounds like a fun read. And I haven’t “grown out of” the Hardy Boys yet! Excellent teaser!

  • Oh, I LIKE her for having a snappy comeback! I never think of mine until 30 minutes later. 🙂

    Mine’s from a mystery, too: http://www.howmysterious.com/2010/05/18/teaser-tuesdays-christine-falls/

  • This sounds good. Her books are becoming popular again in my Media Center. The new cover for Wait Til Helen comes is drawing them in.

    My Tuesday Teaser is from Claire de Lune by Christine Johnson.
